Attractive, spacious,
comfortable and well-equipped holiday cottage on the open forest,
with miles of walking, cycling and riding right from your doorstep.
Sleeps 2-4 very comfortably and up to 6 for families, but the
spiral staircase may be unsuitable for some. Cot available. Non-smokers
only but well-behaved dogs welcome. Private terrace and use of
paddock for games; horses/ponies welcome at certain times of year.
Bartley Barn occupies
the main part of a detached barn style modern building, which
also contains the owners' office and garage. It shares a 1½ acre
plot with Bartley House where the owners, Bill and Jane Porter,
live all year round. Support is therefore on hand when needed,
but guests enjoy their own entrance well away from the house,
and the main windows look out onto the Barn's private sheltered
terrace which enjoys the sun from mid morning onwards in the summer
months, and a large pleasant paddock which guests are welcome
to use too.
The Barn is approached from the main house driveway (with parking
for up to 2 guest cars), through a gate directly onto the terrace
and thence to the main entrance.
The accommodation:
* Main entrance
opens into a large open plan living and dining area. Comfy sofas
(one of which converts to a small double bed if required) and
low tables, music system, TV, DVD and video, books and games.
The hardwood dining table and chairs can be transferred onto the
terrace in fine weather.
* Archway through to modern fitted kitchen with electric hob and
oven, 1½ bowl sink and drainer, dishwasher, integrated washing
machine, fridge freezer, microwave, toaster, table and 6 chairs,
and French doors to deck.
* From the living area a short corridor (with coat hooks) leads
to the fully tiled shower room with WC, washbasin and large shower
cubicle with powerful shower.
* Spiral staircase to centre of large semi open plan loft with
restricted headroom, which extends over the whole of the downstairs
accommodation and the owners' garage. Three large velux windows
look over the paddock to the forest beyond. The top of the staircase
separates the two sleeping areas, each taking up half of the loft.
* Behind a partition wall the first spacious sleeping area has
a double bed with bedside tables and clothes storage with shelves
and hanging space
* From the top of the stairs the other half of the loft doubles
up as a separate sleeping area and an upstairs sitting room. Five
foot double bed incorporating two separate 2'6" mattresses, bedside
tables and further clothes hanging and storage space. Sofa and
extra TV. Good quality folding beds available when needed, also
a modern travel cot.
