A place you must visit when visiting the Forest

Salisbury Road, Blashford, Ringwood,
Hants. BH24 3PA

On A 338

If you like me wonder what a village town was like in years gone by, then you must visit the Ringwood Town and Country Experience, this is not just a museum it is a fascinating insight to times gone by. It is a place for everyone to visit young and not so young and you will all enjoy it. From the quiz's handed out for children to do(or yourself) to sitting in the small cafe area and enjoying a cuppa whilst looking at the old High Street shop fronts.

Obliviously the best way to see this Heritage Museum is by visiting but just to give you a taste of what's to offer a selection of photographs is shown below, which does not really do it justice.

Ringwood High Street

Ringwood Church, and entrance to first floor

Spinners showing their skills the day I visited, in the market square.

Ringwood Train station and steam train, the railway platform and the ticket office. Vintage Cars, and bicycles. Visit the cycle shop.

Look at an original Bouncing Bomb, see an original kiln and Iron age living.

Real life size village shops some with thatched roofs.

RAF display and model air crafts used in numerous airfields round the New Forest in 2nd World War

Go in the toy shop and look at the old toys and model cars

Peep into the radio shop and see how radios used to look like

Visit the open displays and see a Victorian kitchen. Educational visits can be arranged

A young man in front of the carousal answering the quiz given to all children on arrival

Enjoy a cup of tea or light snacks in the open cafe and watch the world go by

Now I have just given you a taste of what you will find at this wonderful museum and it is up to you to find the rest, but just don't forget to visit the small gift shop and visit the toilets before you make your journey home, and then tell your friends and relation's to visit too.

I feel I must point out although the downstairs is completely accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs the upstairs is not, at present, the owners are working on producing a audio video so that could be available when you visit.
